Carney Chukwuemeka’s future at Chelsea remains uncertain, though the club is adamant that he will not be allowed to leave on loan this summer.
The talented midfielder appeared poised for a significant impact last season, especially during the early stages of Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure.
Notably, the former Aston Villa player scored in the second game of last season, a 3-1 loss to West Ham. However, a subsequent knee injury sidelined him for the next four months.
Chukwuemeka returned to action in January against Fulham but was limited to only nine more appearances, all as a substitute under Pochettino.
With the arrival of new manager Enzo Maresca and Chelsea’s ongoing summer recruitment, competition for places is expected to intensify.

Chukwuemeka’s prospects of securing a spot under Maresca were further complicated on Tuesday when Chelsea confirmed the signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City.
Chukwuemeka missed four months last season due to a knee injury. Meanwhile, Dewsbury-Hall’s move from Leicester to Chelsea has been confirmed.
The 25-year-old flourished under the Italian coach last season, playing a crucial role in Leicester’s promotion campaign.
“I have made it pretty public about what I think of the new head coach [Enzo Maresca]. He is fantastic. He is top,” Dewsbury-Hall told the Chelsea website.
“He completely changed the way Leicester wanted to play last season, and we saw it worked. I personally fell in love with the way he wanted to play, and I know a lot of the other lads did as well.
“I am very confident coming here that he is going to implement his style and that the lads are going to buy into it and are going to enjoy it.
“With more time working with it, it will look more natural and when that happens, it is going to be really good for the football club.”
