Three key Arsenal transfer targets have emerged for the summer window, including a £55.6m striker.
The season might be over, but the summer transfer frenzy has already begun. Rumors about potential signings for Arsenal have been circulating since the January market closed. With Arsenal finishing just two points behind Manchester City, the need to strengthen the squad is evident.
Despite an impressive season where Arsenal won more Premier League matches, scored more goals, and conceded fewer than any other team, improving the starting XI remains challenging. However, enhancing depth and competition in certain areas is crucial.
Arsenal aims to strengthen three key positions: centre-forward, central midfield, and defense, particularly on the left side. Football.london identifies the leading candidates for these roles:
Benjamin Sesko
The centre-forward role generates the most excitement among supporters, with Benjamin Sesko emerging as the standout candidate. Other options include Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak, though a move for the latter seems unlikely at this stage. Sesko, 20, has shown impressive form in the Bundesliga for RB Leipzig. His €65 million (£55.6 million) release clause facilitates a straightforward negotiation, but Arsenal may need to act quickly, especially with the European Championships approaching and RB Leipzig exploring a contract renewal.
Bruno Guimaraes
Midfield is the least clear area for Arsenal’s targets. Although linked to various players, the primary target remains uncertain, especially as interest in Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi has cooled. Bruno Guimaraes stands out in terms of quality, and Arsenal’s interest dates back to his time in Brazil and France before his move to Newcastle. His release clause is £100 million, but Arsenal hopes to negotiate a lower fee to complete their dream midfield alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard. Other potential targets include Youssouf Fofana, Joao Neves, and Amadou Onana.
Jorrel Hato
In defense, Jorrel Hato from Ajax is the key target. Despite signing a new deal without a release clause since the January transfer window, Arsenal’s good relations with Ajax could help facilitate a deal. With Jurrien Timber’s uncertain role and Oleksandr Zinchenko’s future at the club in question, securing a player of Hato’s age and talent could provide much-needed consistency and assurance on the left side.
