Thomas Tuchel has expressed his desire to return to Stamford Bridge in discussions with Chelsea.

According to reports, Thomas Tuchel is eager to return to Chelsea less than two years after his departure, believing he has unfinished business at Stamford Bridge.

On Tuesday evening, Chelsea announced they had mutually parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino and have started looking for a new manager.

Several candidates are being considered to replace Pochettino, including former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi and Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna.

However, Sky Sport Germany reports that Tuchel is a strong contender. The 50-year-old was the first major dismissal under Clearlake Capital’s ownership of Chelsea, sacked in September 2022 after 100 days of their tenure.

Tuchel had conflicts with the new owners during a turbulent time but had previously won three trophies, including the Champions League, in his 20 months at the club.

Tuchel’s stint at Bayern Munich has been challenging, with the team finishing third in the Bundesliga. He announced his departure from Bayern at the end of the season earlier this year. Despite last-minute efforts by Bayern, represented by his agent Olaf Meinking, to retain him, Tuchel confirmed no agreement was reached, and their recent 4-2 defeat to Hoffenheim was his final game.

Linked with a potential move to Manchester United if Erik ten Hag is sacked, Tuchel is keen to return to the Premier League. Sky Sport Germany states that he would welcome a return to Chelsea.
