LATEST UPDATE: Chelsea informed of requirements to complete Julian Alvarez transfer as Man City star considers move

Manchester City are set to demand £60 million for Chelsea target Julian Alvarez this summer.

The 24-year-old is open to leaving the Etihad Stadium after becoming frustrated with his lack of game time at the end of the season. Alvarez did not start any of the last four Premier League matches and played only 17 minutes in total. Despite limited minutes, he still finished the season with 19 goals and 13 assists in 54 appearances, remaining a key squad member.

Currently playing with Argentina at the Olympics in Paris, Alvarez is considering an exit from City this summer. According to The Athletic, he is displeased with his playing time and is looking for a way out before the new campaign.

Alvarez would prefer a move to a warmer climate, a sentiment shared by his family in England. However, City’s £60 million transfer fee could price him out of a move abroad. This fee represents a significant profit compared to the £18 million City paid River Plate for him two years ago.

Additionally, City is seeking around £17 million in add-ons, making the deal expensive for potential buyers. Chelsea is one of the clubs linked with Alvarez as Enzo Maresca aims to strengthen his forward line this summer. Atletico Madrid is also interested but reportedly unwilling to meet City’s demands, making a deal unlikely unless both clubs compromise.

With four years left on his contract, Alvarez is expected to be second-choice to Erling Haaland again this season but can play in various forward positions. He will compete with Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish, and Jeremy Doku for a spot in the starting XI.
