LATEST NEWS: Enzo Maresca and Chelsea owner Todd Boehly are moving to sign a Serie A star with Premier League experience to boost Chelsea’s attack. The club is prepared to meet the €60 million (£51 million) fee and offer a four-year contract worth £200,000 per week. Maresca wants the player at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are considering a move for Ademola Lookman as Enzo Maresca looks to bolster his attacking options this summer.
The 26-year-old winger had an impressive season with Atalanta, highlighted by a hat-trick in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen in May.
He ended the season with 17 goals and 10 assists in 45 appearances, catching the eye of several top European clubs.
Reports from Calciomercato indicate that Chelsea are among those interested and are willing to offer close to the €60 million (£51 million) asking price, despite Lookman joining Atalanta for just €15 million (£12.7 million) less than two years ago.
Lookman’s career includes a loan at RB Leipzig, followed by a permanent move there in July, and further loan spells at Fulham and Leicester.
During his time at Leicester, he impressed with eight goals and five assists in 42 appearances, but ultimately opted for a permanent move to Atalanta.
If Chelsea manage to sign Lookman, they would be adding a player with considerable Premier League experience.
Lookman is a quick and direct winger, mainly operating on the left, with a strong ability to score and create goals.
His arrival would bring much-needed speed and creativity to Chelsea’s attack.
