LATEST NEWS: Arsenal have made an impressive £43 million-plus-player swap offer, aiming to add to Liverpool’s struggles.

Arsenal have reportedly submitted a significant offer worth £43 million along with a player in a bid to sign a two-time Player of the Year from a club, who is also on Liverpool’s radar. According to reports, the Gunners are targeting a versatile forward, Ademola Lookman, who has impressed with Atalanta and is sought after by several clubs, including Liverpool.

Arsenal have already strengthened their squad this summer, securing the permanent signing of goalkeeper David Raya from Brentford for £27 million. They also added defender Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna for £42 million. Now, Arsenal’s focus has shifted to bolstering their midfield, with a deal for Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino nearing completion.

While Arsenal were expected to pursue a new striker earlier in the transfer window, the strong performances of Kai Havertz as a No. 9 and Gabriel Jesus as a capable backup have lessened that need. Instead, Arsenal is now focusing on acquiring a more versatile forward capable of playing in multiple attacking positions.

Reports from Italy indicate that Arsenal have set their sights on Ademola Lookman, a standout player at Atalanta. Though Lookman did not excel during his previous Premier League stints with Everton, Fulham, and Leicester, he has been in remarkable form since joining Atalanta in 2022. Lookman, who can operate as a left winger, central forward, or behind the striker, has recorded 32 goals and 18 assists in two full seasons in Italy.

His performances earned him Atalanta’s Player of the Year title for the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons, and his contributions helped the club achieve Europa League success. Liverpool, who were unable to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle, have also shown strong interest in Lookman, especially after their failed attempt to bring Gordon back to Merseyside earlier this summer.

Arsenal’s bold offer signals their intent to outmaneuver Liverpool and secure Lookman’s services as they continue to reinforce their squad for the upcoming season.
