HERE WE GO: Pep Guardiola delivers a fresh message to Julian Alvarez amid transfer speculation involving Arsenal and Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola has reassured Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez that he remains a key part of his plans for the upcoming Premier League season.

Despite rumors linking Alvarez with a potential departure from Man City, with Arsenal and Chelsea reportedly interested in signing him, Guardiola has emphasized his desire to keep Alvarez at the club.

The 24-year-old striker, who has netted 36 goals in 103 appearances for Manchester City, has expressed some dissatisfaction with his role as a backup to Erling Haaland, leading to speculation about his future at the Etihad Stadium.

Alvarez has recently been in Paris with Argentina’s Olympic squad but is expected to return to Manchester after Argentina’s quarter-final loss to France.

When asked for an update on Alvarez following Manchester City’s 4-2 pre-season win over Chelsea, Guardiola responded: “There’s no news. I have nothing to add. He will return. I am counting on him, though he mentioned in the media that decisions will be made collectively.

“For now, he needs to rest, and when he feels ready, he will rejoin us. I am confident that when he comes back, I’ll congratulate him on his achievements in the Copa America and the Olympics, and we will begin working together.

“This is the current situation. In the meantime, I have many other team-related matters to focus on.”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is looking to strengthen his attacking lineup, having led the team to consecutive title challenges over the past two seasons. Alvarez could potentially become the third Manchester City player Arteta has brought in, following the acquisitions of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Chelsea is also reportedly interested in Alvarez as they aim to secure a new striker to support Mauricio Pochettino’s successor, Enzo Maresca.

Former Arsenal defender William Gallas believes that Alvarez could elevate his former team to the “next level” as they strive to end their 21-year quest for a league title.

Gallas commented on the potential transfer, saying, “Julian Alvarez would be an excellent signing for Arsenal.”
