HERE WE GO: Maresca asked if he has authority over Chelsea transfers: ‘The answer is quite simple’

Reports indicated that Chelsea parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino partly because the Argentine wanted more control over transfers.

The club sought a new head coach who would accept the board’s decisions regarding transfers without demanding additional influence. Enzo Maresca was asked if he had received any assurances about his control over player arrivals and departures.

He responded to ESPN: “It’s a straightforward answer for me. The manager and the club need to align, because if either goes in a different direction, it’s not beneficial. It’s important for everyone—the owner, the sporting director, and the manager—to move in the same direction.”

When pressed by the ESPN journalist about his satisfaction with his control over transfers, Maresca confirmed, “Absolutely.”

He added, “It’s hard to comment on the past as I wasn’t here. What I can say is that when everyone—the owners, sporting director, and manager—works towards the same goal, it makes things much easier for everyone involved.”
