HERE WE GO: Chelsea’s poorest performer against Celtic had a nightmare game – his dismal form epitomizes the struggling project.
Chelsea suffered a 4-1 defeat to Celtic last night, and the Sun’s player ratings identified one Blue as the weakest performer with a 4/10 score, the lowest on the team.
While player ratings are often subjective, they provide a general sense of the best and worst performances in a match. In this case, defender Benoit Badiashile received the lowest rating.
Their summary stated, “An absolute shocker for the third Celtic goal, sending a pass backwards straight to the feet of Palma. Had been good going forwards on the ball before that but a real moment to forget.”
The entire defense struggled, dismantled by a lively and energetic Celtic team. Unfortunately, this performance wasn’t an isolated incident for Badiashile, who seems to be a shadow of the player Chelsea initially signed.
Badiashile’s decline since joining has been remarkable and troubling, reflecting broader issues within the project. He was brought in as a young talent expected to improve, enhance the team, and increase in value.
Instead, after a promising start in challenging circumstances, his form has deteriorated. Like many of his teammates, he’s been plagued by injuries and has appeared unsettled and ineffective whenever fit. Each of his appearances has been under different managers, with various goalkeepers and defensive partners.
Although these factors provide some context for his struggles, they don’t entirely excuse his poor form, and mistakes like yesterday’s should not occur.
Currently, it’s hard to imagine any club showing interest in buying him, and the prospect of making a profit on his €40m transfer now seems unlikely.
