Chelsea has confirmed their 28-man squad for their pre-season tour of the United States. This marks their third consecutive summer trip across the Atlantic, and it promises to be a busy period for new head coach Enzo Maresca, with five games scheduled.
The tour begins with a match against League One side Wrexham in Santa Clara on Thursday, July 25 (3 am BST). Chelsea will then face Celtic, Club America, Manchester City, and Real Madrid as they travel across the U.S. They will spend about two weeks in America, concluding their tour with a game against Real Madrid in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Wednesday, August 7 (12 am BST).
After returning to London, Chelsea will play one last summer friendly, hosting Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, August 11, one week before their Premier League opener against Manchester City. This summer is crucial for Maresca and the team as he aims to make a strong start after taking over from Mauricio Pochettino.
Maresca’s squad for the tour features a mix of youth and experience, including the club’s new summer signings. Tosin Adarabioyo and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who recently joined from Fulham and Leicester City, respectively, are part of the squad. New signings Marc Guiu and Renato Veiga are also included. However, Trevoh Chalobah is notably absent.
Other notable absentees include Omari Kellyman, Alfie Gilchrist, Bashir Humphreys, Cesare Casadei, David Datro Fofana, Deivid Washington, and Djordje Petrovic. The club is reportedly exploring loan deals for most of these players.
Chelsea has also confirmed that more players will join the group later, likely including those who participated in international tournaments this summer. Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, Enzo Fernandez, and Marc Cucurella are expected to join the team later.
