Fabrizio Romano confirms that Arsenal’s interest in the £80M striker is genuine, revealing that Arteta and the player have engaged in direct talks.
Journalist Dean Jones has commented on a rumor that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has personally held transfer talks with an £80 million player. This summer, Arsenal is targeting a new forward, one of four key areas sporting director Edu aims to reinforce. In addition to a forward, Arsenal plans to bring in a new goalkeeper, midfielder, and defender, with some key players potentially leaving when the transfer window opens on June 14.
Edu mentioned that planning for summer transfers has been underway since January, emphasizing a detailed approach. He stated, “You can’t sign for the sake of signing,” and highlighted the comprehensive evaluation process.
Despite scoring over 90 goals last season and being the second-best attacking team behind Manchester City, Edu is considering signing a new striker and winger for Arsenal. They have been linked with players like Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.
Jones relays whispers that Arteta has had talks with Rashford about potentially joining Arsenal, although he considers the move unlikely. Jones explained that Rashford is deeply committed to Manchester United, making such a transfer improbable. While there is potential to upgrade on the left, meeting Rashford’s high salary and transfer fee makes the move doubtful.
