Chelsea is reportedly scouting a £40 million Brazilian star midfielder who dreams of playing in west London.
This summer, Chelsea has been linked with numerous options to strengthen their squad. The Brazilian team is expected to add depth to Chelsea’s roster, and another potential deal is anticipated soon.
Enzo Maresca has shown interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Joao Gomes after observing his performance.
The Blues’ manager aims to bolster his midfield, and Joao Gomes has emerged as a key prospect.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Joao is nearing the end of his contract with Wolverhampton, and a move to a London club is possible.
However, Chelsea is not the sole contender for his signature. Manchester United and Manchester City are also vying for the deal, but Chelsea appears to be leading the race.
Italian journalist Romano notes that Gomes, valued at £40 million, is being monitored by several teams early in the transfer season. Despite this interest, his current club has not received any concrete offers.
Romano told GMS that Gomes, a product of the Flamengo academy, is attracting interest from several clubs, including Chelsea. He said: “He’s one of many players being scouted, not just by Chelsea and Manchester United. Many clubs are monitoring him, so we’ll see who makes a proposal or starts negotiations with Wolves. At the moment, nothing is imminent.”
Gomes, who joined Wolves 18 months ago from Flamengo, impressed in his first full Premier League season under manager Gary O’Neil.
He could be an ideal replacement for Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka, who is likely to depart this summer.
