“Chelsea have initiated discussions at a significant level” – Blues focus on primary summer objective

Chelsea have reportedly approached Crystal Palace at a senior level as they intensify their efforts to sign Michael Olise.

The Blues are making a strong push to secure the 22-year-old winger, having experienced a failed attempt last summer despite triggering his then £35 million release clause. Following that, Olise renewed his contract with Palace, increasing his release clause to around £60 million, though it’s understood to be a complex clause to activate.

Chelsea’s renewed pursuit of Olise suggests they are currently leading the race for the Frenchman, despite interest from several other clubs. Bayern Munich and Newcastle have also contacted Palace regarding a potential move for Olise.

Chelsea’s groundwork from last summer has paved the way for swift negotiations this time around, with personal terms not expected to pose an issue. Olise is keen on resolving his future quickly, especially with plans to represent France at the upcoming Olympics.

According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Chelsea’s approach to Palace has been described as “pretty high level,” indicating serious intent from the London club.

“Chelsea have made a significant club-to-club approach to sign him from Crystal Palace,” Solhekol reported on Sky Sports. “They are aware of the challenges but face competition from several other interested clubs. They attempted to secure his signature last summer as well, but he opted to extend his contract with Crystal Palace for another four years.”
