Everton’s former chief, Keith Wyness, has claimed that trading Romelu Lukaku plus cash for Victor Osimhen is the “ideal” solution for Chelsea.
In the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old Wyness—who was CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs—suggested that Lukaku and £70 million might be sufficient to secure a deal with Napoli.
It has been widely reported that Napoli is negotiating with Chelsea to sign Lukaku, while talks are also ongoing about a deal for Victor Osimhen to move in the opposite direction.
The Blues striker, Lukaku, has fallen out of favor at Stamford Bridge under Thomas Tuchel and has spent the last two seasons on loan in Italy.
Meanwhile, Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain also showing interest.
Wyness emphasized that the Nigerian international is a player “people want to see” in the Premier League.
He told Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast: “Osimhen’s release clause is £110 million.
“He’s a very exciting player, I’ve watched a lot of him in Italy.
“I’ve been hearing that Lukaku to Napoli could be the makeweight to get Osimhen to Chelsea.
“I’d been hoping he would come to the Premier League, and I’m very excited to see how he does.”
