Bologna opens the door for Arsenal to pursue Riccardo Calafiori transfer.
The 22-year-old center-back played a crucial role in helping Bologna secure a fifth-place finish in Serie A last season, ensuring their qualification for the upcoming Champions League campaign.
Calafiori was also a member of Italy’s Euro 2024 squad, which was eliminated after a 2-0 defeat to Switzerland in the last-16 stage on Saturday.
The defender has attracted interest from several clubs, including Juventus, Arsenal, and Liverpool, but recent reports from Italy suggest that Mikel Arteta’s side has shown the strongest interest among the teams outside of Serie A.
Juventus has already engaged in talks regarding the potential signing of Calafiori but has reportedly cooled their interest due to Bologna’s €40 million (£33.8m) transfer fee demand.
Juventus is now considering Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior as an alternative to Calafiori.
Bologna signed Calafiori last summer in a €4m (£3.3m) deal from Swiss side FC Basel.
Bologna’s technical director, Giovanni Sartori, now acknowledges that Calafiori could be sold if the club receives a significant offer.
