Arteta awarded Best Premier League Manager title.
Mikel attended the event in Sardinia to receive his prize at the first European edition of the awards, held by the Dubai-based football organization that manages the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards since 2010.
The event, organized in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council, will see select winners from the European edition shortlisted for the year-end Dubai Globe Soccer Awards global event in the UAE.
Former Gunner Cesc Fabregas presented Mikel with his trophy. The judging panel was impressed by Mikel leading the team to a record 28 Premier League wins, accumulating 89 points, securing 18 clean sheets, and establishing a distinctive style of play.
After receiving his award, Mikel expressed his pride, saying: “I feel extremely proud because when I decided to stop my career as a football player I thought that all the joy and best moments were gone, and I was totally wrong because when I started my coaching and managerial career, I love it even more.
“I have to thank all the players, coaching staff and everybody involved at the football club for making my days so enjoyable, so inspiring and for supporting me in this journey that we started four years ago that hopefully is going to take us right to the top to win many trophies.
“We’ve been building for a few years and right now we have a team that is full of enthusiasm, and so hungry to win trophies. We know the competition but we believe we can do it, so we’re going to give it a real go.”
Other winners of the night included Kylian Mbappe as Best Men’s Player, Xabi Alonso as Best Coach, and Harry Kane as Best Goalscorer.
