Arsenal discover PSG’s new position on Xavi Simons as transfer interest from Man United and Man City arises.
Arsenal are reportedly among the clubs competing to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s young star Xavi Simons. The 21-year-old has attracted significant interest after his impressive loan spell at RB Leipzig.
Simons is currently playing for the Netherlands at the European Championships. He started in their opening match against Poland, which the Dutch team won 2-1, with goals from Cody Gakpo and Wout Weghorst.
Arsenal are expected to be active in the summer transfer window, seeking a versatile forward rather than a traditional striker. The Gunners have already been linked to players like Artem Dovbyk, Benjamin Sesko, and Joshua Zirkzee.
According to L’Equipe, there could be a bidding war among English clubs for Simons, with Manchester United and Manchester City showing interest, and Bayern Munich also contacting PSG.
However, PSG might be hesitant to sell Simons before January 2025, as PSV Eindhoven would receive a significant portion of the transfer fee. Despite this, Simons could still move this summer, potentially on loan, with the final decision resting with him.
Simons had an outstanding debut season in the Bundesliga, scoring 10 goals and providing 15 assists. PSG might demand around £51 million for him, although reports indicate that PSG’s coach Luis Enrique values him highly.
