Arsenal’s Strategic Revenue Growth

Arsenal’s efforts to increase revenue and close the financial gap with their rivals continue with the appointment of a key staff member to a new position.

Key Appointment: Omar Shaikh

Omar Shaikh, who joined Arsenal from Liverpool last year, has been promoted from his role as Partnership Development Director to Global Partnerships and Ventures Director. In this new role, he will report directly to Chief Commercial Officer Juliet Slot.

Financial Growth

Arsenal, who finished second in the Premier League last year and secured a spot in the Champions League, saw their commercial revenue rise by 19% for 2022/23. This increase brought their revenue to £169.3 million, up from £141.7 million in 2021/22.

Future Revenue Projections

This commercial revenue is expected to rise further when the current financial year ends this month. Over the past 12 months, the club has engaged eight new commercial partners and secured its first-ever naming rights deal for its training ground with Dubai-based luxury real estate developer Sobha Realty.

Juliet Slot commented, “Last season we pushed ourselves far, breaking records across both our teams, bringing in new partners, and bolstering our commercial team. All of us remain focused on building on this progress. Omar and our commercial team are essential for this. In his new role, he will lead in deepening our relationships with all our partners, unlocking new opportunities to generate revenue that can be reinvested in our teams, and accelerating our growth internationally to connect with our supporters around the world.”

Recent Promotions

Shaikh’s promotion is the second announced by Arsenal this year, following Richard Garlick’s promotion to Managing Director ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Omar Shaikh’s Vision

Commenting on his promotion on LinkedIn, Shaikh said, “I’ve been at the Gunners for almost a year, which has been more than enough time to know that we’re building something special here. Everyone in and around the club can feel it. There’s always more progress to be made, and I can’t wait to continue on this journey in a new role, supported by our world-class team here at Arsenal.”
