An Arsenal first-team player, who has achieved over 20 goals and assists, has turned down a new contract offer from Arteta, opting instead to join a rival Premier League club.
Five years ago, Leandro Trossard firmly rejected Arsenal, but now he is thriving in the red and white jersey.
In the summer of 2019, after a stellar season with KRC Genk, where he tallied 33 goals and assists in 47 matches, Trossard caught Arsenal’s attention.
We made four trips to Belgium to negotiate for Trossard, but Arsenal was ultimately turned down. Trossard chose Graham Potter’s Brighton, which had a more compelling project for him.
After 120 games at Brighton, Trossard sought to advance his career as he approached 30.
That’s when Arsenal reappeared after missing their primary target in January 2023.
Capitalizing on Tottenham’s difficulties negotiating with Brighton, Arsenal swiftly closed the deal to bring Trossard to Emirates Stadium within 24 hours.
The result? A resounding success with 14 goals and 12 assists in just 30 out of 60 starts for Arsenal. He scored crucial goals both off the bench and in significant matches.
Although Arsenal missed out on a younger Trossard, they acquired a mature, seasoned, and highly effective player.
Arsenal signed Trossard from Brighton for €24.0m, and his market value has since risen to €38.3m, fueling hopes for an English championship next season.
€24.0m for Trossard was a bargain given his prior EPL experience. It’s fortunate we didn’t spend £100m on Mudryk.
