Chelsea have a distinct strategy for their £34 million acquisition of Willian Estevao.
Chelsea have immediate first-team plans for their new £34 million signing, Willian Estevao, according to reports. The 17-year-old has made just 15 first-team appearances for Palmeiras but is regarded as one of Brazil’s most highly rated young players. The winger, who has also featured for Brazil’s Under-17s, will join Chelsea after he turns 18 next year and will arrive at Stamford Bridge alongside 17-year-old Ecuador international Kendry Paez, whose £17.5 million move to Chelsea was agreed last year.
Chelsea have agreed to pay an initial £34 million fee for Estevao plus a further £21.5 million in performance-related add-ons. The initial proposal of €32 million (£27.5 million) plus €25 million (£21.5 million) in add-ons was rejected. Now, Chelsea have offered €40 million (£34 million) guaranteed plus €25 million (£21.5 million) in add-ons. Additionally, Chelsea will cover the taxes on the deal, which are significant in South American transfers. The bonuses are performance-related, based on Estevao’s appearances, goals, and assists. Palmeiras believe these bonuses will be easily met, ensuring they receive their money in the future, and the agreement is verbally finalized.
