Emmanuel Petit urges Arsenal to make every effort to sign a Premier League star before Manchester United and Chelsea do.

Emmanuel Petit has urged Arsenal to do “everything” to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise before Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea can.

Olise has drawn interest from several top Premier League clubs ahead of the summer transfer window after a standout season for Crystal Palace. Despite injuries limiting the 22-year-old to just 13 starts, Olise has managed to contribute 10 goals and five assists, helping Palace secure a mid-table finish.

Palace is preparing for significant offers for Olise and his teammate Eberechi Eze, with Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly interested in summer moves.

Petit, a World Cup winner and former Premier League player, wants Arsenal to secure Olise’s signature and believes the club should do everything to outbid their rivals.

“I watched Michael Olise against Manchester United [in Palace’s 4-0 win on May 6] and I thought he was incredible,” Petit told Grosvenor Sport.

“Arsenal should do everything they can to sign him over Man United and Chelsea. He did some tricks during the game – and so did Eze – where in my day they would have left the stadium on crutches.

“I thought they were taking the p**s and so lucky they play in 2024. In seriousness though, I thought Olise and Eze were incredible.

“If I had to choose, I’d have both, but Olise is more what Arsenal need on the right flank. Having both him and Saka would be very good for Arsenal because they still need that, and Olise has improved so much over the last few years.

“If I’m Olise, I’d choose Arsenal too as I want ambition in my career and my place is not at Crystal Palace anymore.”

New Palace boss Oliver Glasner hopes Olise and Eze will stay at Selhurst Park this summer and says the club will do “everything possible” to keep them.
