Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has discussed the upcoming summer transfer window and potential changes at the club.
There is no certainty that Pochettino will still be managing the team next season, as a meeting to decide his immediate future is scheduled shortly after the final game of the season.
Despite this uncertainty, the Argentine is naturally planning for the summer and next season. He stated that until told otherwise, he will continue to plan for Chelsea’s future.
Chelsea is expected to see both player departures and new signings this summer, targeting several key positions.
Pochettino confirmed that some players are likely to want to leave, saying, as reported by The Evening Standard, “Now is going to start a period where players want to leave, maybe some offers arrive or players that we want to add to the squad. Of course, we have already started to work on this.”
In my opinion, Chelsea needs a new striker, center back, left back, winger, and goalkeeper. Whether they can achieve all this is uncertain. To compete at the highest level again, they need smart signings in these areas.
Victor Osimhen has been linked to Chelsea, but spending a large fee on one player may not be wise.
Upgrades are necessary in these areas, along with adding experienced, quality players. That’s what I believe is needed.
