HERE WE GO: Enzo Maresca understands the mood in the Chelsea dressing room following the embarrassment against Celtic.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall asserts that the Chelsea squad is fully supporting new manager Enzo Maresca despite a disappointing pre-season.
The Blues suffered a 4-1 defeat to Celtic in a friendly, leading some fans to question Maresca’s tactics and strategy.
However, Dewsbury-Hall emphasized that the team has embraced the manager’s playing style and is working cohesively behind the scenes.
Having worked with Maresca during Leicester’s Championship-winning season last year, Dewsbury-Hall noted that players were convinced by his approach within a week.
He is confident that Chelsea will adapt similarly. He said, “I am getting the same feedback here with the lads. They’ve bought into it from minute one.
“You need everyone to buy in because if they do, you can really achieve something. I’m hoping that continues because if it does, we can be a serious force.”
Following the 4-1 loss to Celtic and a 2-2 draw with Wrexham, Maresca reassured fans that these matches are primarily about building fitness and form, not focusing on the final results.
Speaking to Chelsea TV, Maresca stated, “We don’t like the result as you said. Conceding four is too many. Also, the number of chances we created in the first half, even when the game started we had two clear chances. The second half we started the same way.
“After the third goal, the game was finished. I think it was quite clear the difference between us and them in terms of physical condition. You can see that they are a team that in one week they are going to start their official season while for us it was just our second game after the break. For me, it was quite clear the difference in physical condition.”
Chelsea will begin their Premier League campaign against title-holders Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, August 18.
