TRANSFER BOMBSHELL✅✅: Celebrations at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea secure their 7th signing of the summer, but Enzo Maresca is unhappy since the £20M player wasn’t his pick.

Chelsea have reached an agreement for their seventh summer signing, as revealed by Fabrizio Romano. If everything proceeds smoothly, Filip Jorgensen will join as their new goalkeeper, despite not being their initial top choice.

Romano confirmed that Chelsea has agreed with Villarreal to sign the Denmark international for a fee of €24.5m (£20.7m). Jorgensen is set to sign a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge.

In May, TEAMtalk reported that new Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca was dissatisfied with the existing goalkeeping options and that Jorgensen was one of the names considered for an upgrade.

Interest in Jorgensen grew over the past few weeks, leading Chelsea to finalize the deal, with his arrival now imminent.

We reported yesterday that Jorgensen was expected to join Chelsea this weekend, which is now coming to fruition.

Romano, despite previously suggesting Maresca was content with Robert Sanchez, confirmed Jorgensen’s move to Chelsea with his ‘here we go’ catchphrase.

At 22 years old, Jorgensen will be Chelsea’s seventh signing of the summer, following Omari Kellyman, Tosin Adarabioyo, Marc Guiu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga, and Caleb Wiley.

Additionally, Chelsea secured a deal for Boca Juniors centre-back Aaron Anselmino, who will remain in Argentina on loan for the rest of the year.

Under the ownership of Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, Chelsea has continued their high spending this summer, supporting their new head coach.

Jorgensen will be the fourth goalkeeper signed under the current regime, following Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic, and Gabriel Slonina.

Although Jorgensen may not be Maresca’s preferred choice, it was reported that Maresca initially favored another Danish goalkeeper, Mads Hermansen. Hermansen, who played a crucial role in Leicester City’s promotion to the Premier League under Maresca, was considered too expensive, with a reported price tag of £40m, double that of Jorgensen.

Chelsea hopes that Jorgensen will prove to be a better option, having struggled to find a reliable no.1 goalkeeper in recent seasons.

Jorgensen made more saves than any other goalkeeper in LaLiga last season, with 143 stops and six clean sheets.

Now, he just needs to complete the formalities of his Chelsea move, such as a medical.
