BREAKING NEWS: Chelsea concluded their pursuit of Victor Osimhen as Enzo Maresca’s former target joined his desired club.
Chelsea ended their pursuit of Victor Osimhen as Enzo Maresca’s former target joined his dream club.
Chelsea had been in negotiations to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen over the past week. However, new reports indicate that Osimhen had numerous inquiries about joining the West London club, which some fans strongly opposed.
Meanwhile, Chelsea were expected to sign another significant talent, but it seems the deal has progressed beyond discussions, despite Chelsea’s interest and potential to secure the deal if the opportunity had arisen.
Given their many transfer dealings, Chelsea might now consider bidding for other options instead of Riccardo Calafiori to align with Enzo Maresca’s player strategy.
Pat Nevin believes Chelsea won’t regret missing out on Riccardo Calafiori.
“It’s difficult to judge Riccardo Calafiori because the Italian team hasn’t been brilliant generally,” Nevin told Genting Casinos.
“He’s a good player, but he’s not Antonio Rudiger, who Chelsea still haven’t replaced to the standard they need.
“But I think the center of defense isn’t where they should be concerned. They’re not too bad in that area and have young defenders who need time to develop.
“You don’t find out how good a defender is until they’re 24 to 26. Calafiori might have been useful for Chelsea, but some defenders who can do the job are already there.”
