Breaking: “It’s a significant challenge, which is precisely what I wanted. Chelsea’s top target explains why he chose to join the West London team instead of his dream club.”
Jamal Musiala expressed his happiness over former Chelsea academy teammate Michael Olise’s decision to join Bayern Munich, despite interest from Chelsea.
Olise, who previously played for Crystal Palace, transferred in a £51 million deal. Chelsea withdrew from negotiations due to concerns about Olise’s wage demands affecting the club’s finances under Premier League spending rules.
Musiala is excited to reunite with Olise, this time at Bayern, saying, “We used to play together at Chelsea Academy; it was nice! He’s super talented; his skills are excellent. He has scored many goals at Palace, so… I’m happy that he’s joining Bayern.”
Musiala spent eight years at Chelsea before moving to Bayern in 2019. He was initially scouted by Southampton, who recruited him from the German fourth-tier club TSV Lehnerz.
Olise explained his decision to join Bayern, stating, “It’s a great challenge, and that’s exactly what I was looking for. I want to prove myself at this level and play my part in ensuring that we win as many titles as possible with our team in the coming years.”
Olise will return to England when Bayern faces Tottenham Hotspur in a pre-season friendly a week before the Premier League season begins.
