Prediction made about Amadou Onana as Arsenal and Man Utd express interest in the Everton star.
Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, who joined the club two years ago, has been linked with a transfer away from the Toffees. Despite Everton’s struggles in the lower half of the Premier League, the 22-year-old has shown considerable promise.
Arsenal and Manchester United are among the clubs showing interest, with Aston Villa also in the mix. Onana, currently representing Belgium at Euro 2024, has attracted significant attention.
According to football.london, Arsenal aims to reshape their midfield this summer, even after acquiring £105 million star Declan Rice last season. Onana is being considered as a potential addition to play alongside Rice and captain Martin Odegaard.
Mikel Arteta’s preferred midfield setup includes two No.8s and a No.6. Odegaard and Kai Havertz have been the more attacking No.8s, while Jorginho often played the defensive role, with Rice in a box-to-box position.
Andros Townsend, Onana’s former Everton teammate and current ITV co-commentator, believes Onana is best suited for a box-to-box role, despite his versatility. Townsend stated, “He can play No.6, he can play No.10, but I just think box-to-box role, he’s got the engine, he’s got the legs. He can drive with the ball, he can play cute passes. I think that’s where he’ll end up, in a sort of No.8 box-to-box midfield role.”
Reports suggest that if Arsenal pursues Onana, they may need to pay at least £50 million. Whether this amount is feasible remains uncertain.
